Introduction to Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering

The book provides an introduction and orientation for students in chemical engineering and describes the evolution, growth, diversification and future trajectories of the subject. Sequence and contents of the chapters are designed to accompany students along their initial studies in chemical engineering. The chapters give a brief overview of the major topics in standard chemical engineering programs and provide a holistic view of the core topics, their interrelations and applications in process industries with simple and deliberately chosen examples. While the discussions are brief, they focus on the core of engineering program by considering material and energy balances, basic transport phenomena. Especial attention is paid to bioprocesses and bio-separations as newer additions to the standard chemical engineering program.
