Inferenz und Wahrnehmungsgehalt

Die Phänomenologie und die sprachanalytische Philosophie basieren auf unterschiedlichen methodischen Ansätzen und gelten daher häufig als unvereinbar: Während die eine das Bewusstsein analysiert, richtet die andere ihren Fokus auf die Sprache. Eric Ebner zeigt, dass sich beide Ansätze im Hinblick auf die Analyse von Wahrnehmungsgehalten produktiv miteinander verbinden lassen. Die phänomenologische Stärke in der Analyse der Wahrnehmung wird dabei mit einer methodisch primären Orientierung an Sprache verknüpft. Im Zentrum steht die These, dass Wahrnehmungsgehalte durch die Verbindung der inferentialistischen Philosophie Robert B. Brandoms mit den phänomenologischen Ansätzen Edmund Husserls und Aron Gurwitschs als materielle Inferenzen rekonstruiert werden können. Dadurch wird nicht nur eine Verbindung zwischen zwei philosophischen Traditionen hergestellt, sondern zugleich das Konzept der materiellen Inferenz systematisch erweitert und eine Alternative zu einer gegenstandsorientierten Interpretation des Horizontbegriffs bei Husserl ausgearbeitet. Die These wird problemorientiert aus den Ansätzen Brandoms und Husserls entwickelt und im Kontext phänomenologischer Debatten diskutiert.
Phenomenology and linguistic philosophy are based on different methodological approaches and are therefore often regarded as incompatible: while one analyses consciousness, the other focuses on language. Eric Ebner demonstrates that both approaches can be productively combined when it comes to analysing the contents of perception. The phenomenological strength in the analysis of perception is thereby linked to a methodologically primary orientation towards language. The central thesis of this book maintains that the contents of perception can be reconstructed as material inferences by combining Robert B. Brandom’s inferentialist philosophy with the phenomenological approaches of Edmund Husserl and Aron Gurwitsch. This not only establishes a connection between two philosophical traditions, but also systematically expands the concept of material inference and develops an alternative to an object-oriented interpretation of the concept of the horizon in Husserl. The thesis is developed in a problem-oriented manner from the approaches of Brandom and Husserl and discussed in the context of phenomenological debates.
