Content of this volume: This volume, Chassis and Axles, explains the support structure of the vehicle, the chassis, and its attachments. The suspension and the steering are explained as well as the axles and tires. The reader thus gains a basic understanding of the rolling understructure of the commercial vehicle. About the Author: Dr. Michael Hilgers currently is a senior manager for powertrain testing at Daimler Truck in Stuttgart. Before that he headed a Daimler Truck testing center in China, was head of a CAE department for Mercedes-Benz Trucks and was responsible for a department in mechatronic development at Mercedes-Benz Trucks.
