Dose Calculation Algorithms in Radiation Therapy

The patient journey in radiotherapy involves a number of steps and it is important to minimize the uncertainty at each step in order to deliver the most suitable dose. The treatment planning system (TPS) is an integral part of this process. This book examines in detail how the TPS uses measured data to construct source models; how the patient anatomy is represented in the TPS and how different image modalities are used to provide the necessary information for dose modeling; and the modern approaches to calculation of dose deposition in patients treated using photons, electrons, protons and brachytherapy sources. It would be a suitable textbook for many education programs worldwide.
