Produktbeschreibung
This open access volume explores the translation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula into Hungarian (1898), Greek (1903), Slovak (1918), French (1920), Italian (1922), Romanian (1928–29), Spanish (1966), and Serbian (1984). It focuses on how translations were shaped by wider linguistic, cultural, and political contexts and the choices made to make the novel meaningful for particular national audiences. The volume also considers adaptations of Dracula in prose, cinema, and theater, framing them as transmedia translations. By tracing the novel’s complex afterlives, the volume fills a critical gap in Dracula studies, offering fresh insights for scholars and enthusiasts.
