'Es begab sich aber zu der Zeit ...'

Die Idee zu diesem Aufsatzband und die Auswahl der Beiträge gehen auf den 2022 verstorbenen Autor selbst zurück. Im Wesentlichen ging es ihm dabei um eine bisher unveröffentlichte, vor allem für Studierende bestimmte Orientierungshilfe zum Thema 'Jesus und seine Welt, die Evangelien und das Echo in seinem Volk', die nun den ersten Teil des vorliegenden Bandes ausmacht.
Die über dieses kleine Jesusbuch hinaus ausgewählten, mit einer Ausnahme schon früher an verschiedenen Orten gedruckten Aufsätze umspannen den weiten Zeitraum von der Berliner Antrittsvorlesung 1976 bis in das Jahr 2016. Sie sind sämtlich von bleibendem Interesse und haben ihre Gültigkeit und Aktualität nicht eingebüßt.

The idea for this volume of essays and the selection of contributions may be traced back to the author himself, who died in 2022. Essentially he was concerned with a previously unpublished guide, primarily for undergraduate students, to provide orientation on the subject of 'Jesus and His World, the Gospels and the Echo in His People', which now makes up Chapters I–III of the present volume.
The essays selected beyond this small book on Jesus, which, with one exception, have already been printed in various places, span the long period from the inaugural lecture in Berlin in 1976 up to 2016. They are all of lasting interest and have not lost any validity and topicality.
