SESSIONS ON TERRITORY is a series of public debates exploring the intersection of architecture, territory, and political economy. This publication extends those debates into print, tracing the conversations and questions that have animated the series. Focusing on architecture's role in the public sector, the book brings together practitioners engaged with, or working within, state institutions. Through their contributions, it examines how architecture can help advance public interest in the broadest sense-encompassing the public good, public ownership, public space, and the public sphere-amid challenges from the state, the market, technology, and a growing erosion of trust in social institutions. The Chair of Architecture of Territory at ETH Zurich understands territorial research and design as highly contextual practices and as voices that inevitably negotiate within ongoing political and planning dialogues and trajectories.
