Indigenous Consultation, Consent and Engagement in Canadian Resource Development

This book explores how Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) can be integrated into Indigenous engagement and consultation processes in Canada’s natural resource sector. The author critiques the existing regulatory framework, which separates formal legal consultation from informal social engagement, and argues for a more holistic approach that centers Indigenous rights, participation, and sovereignty.
