Produktbeschreibung

This book explores how digital hyperconnectivity generates an epigenetic trajectory that reshapes identity, embodiment, emotional life, and mental health across post-digital generations. In doing so, it challenges prevailing diagnostic frameworks and calls for a reconstruction of foundational psychopathological structures as well as nosographic categories. Drawing on psychoanalysis, psychology, psychiatry, sociology, and media studies, the book examines transformations in self-perception, emotional engagement, embodiment, and identity construction. It explores difficulties in emotional awareness, including alexithymia, as well as body dysmorphia, gender dysphoria, problematic digital use, and the influence of social media on identity formation. Its distinctive contribution lies in combining theoretical analysis with contemporary clinical and sociocultural examples to clarify how digital technologies shape processes of subjectivation across generations. By bridging clinical research and sociocultural analysis, the book addresses the psychological consequences of digital immersion, particularly among younger generations. Moving from theoretical foundations to applied discussion, it remains accessible without compromising academic rigour. It will be particularly valuable to scholars and students in psychology, psychiatry, psychoanalysis, digital humanities, sociology, and media studies, as well as to clinicians, educators, and policymakers interested in digital culture and mental health. By considering both vulnerabilities and adaptive possibilities, the book offers conceptual and practical resources for fostering self-awareness, emotional well-being, and more reflective forms of engagement with post-digital society, while opening a dialogue on the aetiopathogenesis of contemporary forms of psychological suffering and the redefinition of clinical psychopathology in the third millennium.
