Small-scale Fisheries in the Brazilian Amazon

This book addresses the Brazilian Amazon small-scale fisheries, showing their potential contributions to achieve sustainable development goals, including socioeconomic aspects, interactions with ornamental and recreational fisheries, main challenges for their management and to the conservation of biodiversity, environments and local cultures, and the application of fishers' knowledge to improve fisheries science and management. It will provide a broader coverage on tropical freshwater small-scale fisheries in several rivers in the Brazilian Amazon, through chapters authored by experts in each area. In this sense, the book will expand the scope of fisheries provided in previous publications, regarding both geographic coverage and variety of interrelated topics addressed, following an interdisciplinary approach.
