Language and Diasporization

This book challenges the traditional view of diasporas as territorialized, bounded, and homogeneous entities. It examines the role of language in the evolution of late modern diasporas through a detailed study of Hungarian diasporic speakers in Catalonia. Based on a four-year ethnographically informed critical sociolinguistic study, the volume introduces a new sociolinguistic theory of diasporization, developed collaboratively with the diasporic speakers. The book presents four perspectives on diasporization: chronotopic, boundary-management, posthumanist, and rhizomatic. These insights offer valuable, multidisciplinary approaches to diaspora studies.
