Produktbeschreibung
The exhibition and accompanying publication explore the construction history of one of the most important buildings of European Rococo: Augustusburg Palace, now part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Palaces of Augustusburg and Falkenlust in Brühl. Through contributions ranging from essays and object texts to interviews, the publication approaches the subject from multiple perspectives. The volume brings together essays by international experts who examine, among other topics, the illustrious patron behind the building project, Clemens August of Bavaria, the Elector and Archbishop of Cologne, as well as the international networks of architects and artists involved in the construction of the palace, such as Balthasar Neumann and François de Cuvilliés. New research findings, including those on the service buildings of Augustusburg Palace or on the organisation of the Electoral Cologne Office of Works, are presented alongside current research projects on the painting techniques of the fresco artist Carlo Innocenzo Carlone.
