Produktbeschreibung
This is the first edition of the unprinted epos “Triumph of Joy” by court poet C. E. Suppius. The poem, comprising ten songs, celebrates arcadian rural life at the Palace of Friedrichswerth. This new literary discovery gives valuable insights into festival culture at the Court of Gotha around 1740, revealing Suppius to be the representative of a courtly poetics of the marvelous that resisted the rational bourgeoisification of literary aesthetics.
